Clinical Practice Sites/Professional Practice Experiences Guide The House Team on Higher Education & Workforce Development is pleased to announce the availability of the newest version of the PPE Guide. The original PPE Guide was released in 2009 and provided a road map for college programs and the HIM practice community to define their respective roles in finding professional practice experience opportunities for enrolled students. The House team, aided by AHIMA staff, received feedback on the first version and noted what needed to be added to the second edition. The 2011 PPE Guide II has more samples for programs to incorporate (more than 20 pages of appendices) and a review of best practice ideas that innovative programs have put to work. The guide is a compilation of the most forward-thinking ideas in student placement and should help programs that are restructuring their current PPE process to optimize the time in the field for their students. In addition, the House team is planning to raise awareness in the practice community as to the need for more affiliation sites and more site managers.
